Hopefully this worked- got ambitious the other day and remembered a suggestion given to me by Jose Rodriguez about tents that aren't on the market yet. Well I made a new M1942 Pyramidal Tent and a 60's-70's era (Vietnam to Gulf war) GP Small tent. They're not hard to make, just flattened out Aves epoxy sculpt laid over a cut sheet plastic framework. Now the "FUN" work begins, shaping and detailing.

Wow those are looking great! I'm just now starting to dabble in tent/tarp making and my results are not up to par yet. Can you explain what kind of tools you use to smooth and shape? It's hard to tell in this photo but did you apply a texture tot he tents?
Love your work! Keith

You could use those 'masters' to vac-u-form the tents too! LOVE the new forum!

I'm about to do WW2 small and large wall tents, so instead of showing the finished products I'll just post a Step-by-Step. What you need to make them is Aves Epoxy Putty, .030 Evergreen (or similar) plastic sheet, a sharp hobby knife, soft bristled synthetic paint brushes, Wax Paper (Kitchen Type), Talcum Powder, and a kitchen rolling pin. It might be a good idea to buy a cheap rolling pin to use just for this. If your wife finds out that you used the one in the kitchen, it may develope dents in it which would cause an uneven surface on the putty, not to mention the lumps on your head!
Vacuform would work too. The only drawback is the detail loss but still a great idea for some quickies! Glad you like the forum Matt!!
